Mushroom Matar Masala (Spicy Mushroom & Green Peas Curry)

Mushroom is our family favorite, so I prepare different mushroom recipes quite often. This is a very easy recipe, which can be prepared with very few basic ingredients. Beat part of this recipe is, it can be prepared very easily.

Ingredients:

  • Mushroom – 300 gms
  • Matar or Green Peas – 1 cup
  • Ginger – Garlic Paste – 2 tsp
  • Tomato – ½ cup (Pureed)
  • Cumin Powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander Powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ½ tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
  • Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Cumin – ½ tsp
  • Green Chilli – 2 (Finely chopped)
  • Sugar – ¼ tsp
  • Salt – To taste
  • Bay Leaf – 2 nos
  • Refined Oil – 2 Tbsp
  • Fresh Cream – 2-3 tsp
  • Chopped Coriander Leaf – A handful

Steps:

  1. Wash and clean the mushroom and cut them into quarters.
  2. Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a wok or kadai. Add the mushroom pieces and sauté on high heat for couple of minutes. Take out in a bowl.
  3. In the same kadai add 1 Tbsp more oil. Add bay leaf and cumin seeds. Stir for few seconds.
  4. Add ginger garlic paste and cook till raw smell goes off.
  5. Next add all the powder masalas and tomato paste. Cook till oil separates.
  6. Add green peas. Sauté for few minutes.
  7. Add chopped green chilli, suagr, salt and ½ cup warm water. Cover and let peas cooked.
  8. Remove the cover and add sautéed mushroom and garam masala powder. Mix everything well. Cook for another couple of minutes.
  9. Finish with fresh cream and chopped coriander leaf.
  10. Serve hot with roti or pulao.
