Harabhara Chicken Kofta Curry (Chicken Meatball Curry in Green Sauce)

It is difficult to feed vegetables and greens to your fussy kids. So I always try to prepare meat dishes in combination with vegetables or green. I have shared Chicken Keema Kofta Curry and Malaidar Chicken Keema Kofta Curry before. This time I’m sharing a kids friendly nutritious recipe which I’m sure You are going to like it. Ingredients:

For making Kofta/Meatball:

  • Chicken Keema or Minced Chicken – 300 gms
  • Garlic – 2-3 tsp (Finely chopped)
  • Onion – 1 (Big – Finely chopped)
  • Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
  • Black Pepper Powder – ½ tsp
  • Green Chilli – 2 (Finely chopped)
  • Coriander Leaf – A handful (Very finely chopped)
  • Garam Masala Powder – ½ tsp
  • Salt – To taste
  • Oil – For frying the koftas

For making the gravy:

  • Onion Paste – ½ cup
  • Garlic Paste – 1 tsp
  • Ginger Paste – 1 ½ tsp
  • Spinach Paste – 1 cup
  • Red Whole Chilli – 2
  • Clove – 2-3
  • Green Cardamom – 2-3
  • Cinnamon Stick – 1”
  • Red Chilli Powder – 1 tsp
  • Sugar – ½ tsp
  • Oil – 2 Tbsp
  • Salt – To taste
  • Garam Masala Powder – ½ tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander Powder – ½ tsp
  • Cumin Powder – ½ tsp
  • Grated Cheese – For garnishing

Steps:

  1. Take a big mixing bowl. And mix all ingredients except oil. Leave for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil for deep-frying. Take a small lemon size portion and shape like a ball. Carefully release in the hot oil.
  3. Fry till golden brown on all sides. Take out from oil and keep aside.
  4. Meanwhile blanch spinach and make a puree after it cools down.
  5. Pour excess oil in a pot keeping 2 Tbsp oil in the kadai.
  6. Temper the oil with whole red chilli, green cardamom, clove and cinnamon stick.
  7. Add in garlic paste and ginger paste. Start sautéing.
  8. Next add onion paste. Sauté till oil separates.
  9. Next add coriander powder, cumin powder and red chilli powder.
  10. Add in spinach puree. Mix everything well.
  11. Add sugar. Adjust salt.
  12. Add 1 cup water and let it come to aboil.
  13. When the gravy starts to boil add fried chicken koftas.
  14. Keep the fire on low. Cover and cook for 7-8 minutes.
  15. Remove cover sprinkle garam masala powder. Give a final stir.
  16. Garnish with grated cheese. Serve hot with Butter Naan, Paratha or Vegetable Pulao.
