Soya Keema Pulao

2

There are days when you do not want to cook anything but to have something which is wholesome and nutritious. Few days back on a Sunday when I was thinking what to cook for lunch, I decided to cook a simple meal comprising a wholesome rice and Egg Curry (Dimer Dalna/Jhol). Now we all know that Soya has very high protein content and it is easily digestible. And I love to cook anything with Soya chunk/Keema. Earlier I have shared a Soya Chunk Fried Rice recipe. Today I will be sharing Soya Keema Pulao recipe…

Ingredients:

  • Basmati or any long grained Rice – 250 gms
  • Soya Keema – 1 cup
  • Mixed Vegetables – 1 cup (I used carrot, beans, green peas)
  • Onion – 2 (Sliced)
  • Ginger – ½ tsp (Chopped)
  • Ginger Paste – 1 Tbsp
  • Garlic Paste – ½ tsp
  • Cumin Powder – ½ tsp
  • Coriander Powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder – ¼ tsp
  • Green Chilli – 3-4
  • Green Cardamom – 2
  • Black Cardamom – 1
  • Cinnamon Stick – 1”
  • Clove – 2
  • Bay Leaf – 2
  • Salt – To taste
  • Oil – 4 Tbsp
  • Ghee – 2 tsp
  • Garam Masala Powder – ½ tsp

Steps:

  1. Wash and soak rice in water for 1 hour.
  2. Soak soya granule in warm water for 15-20 minutes. Then squeeze excess water. Keep aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Temper the oil with whole garam masala and bay leaf.
  4. Now add sliced/chopped onion in the pan. Sauté till it turns translucent.
  5. Next add ginger paste, garlic paste and soaked soya keema. Sauté till raw smell goes off.
  6. Now add all the dry masala and keep sautéing till oil seperates.
  7. Add chopped vegetables. Sauté for another 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add soaked rice. Mix very well. Add 2 to 2.5 cups of water or a little more than the amount of rice.
  9. Adjust salt. Add chopped ginger and green chilli. Sprinkle garam masala. Cover and cook till rice become fluffy and vegetables are cooked.
  10. Switch off the flame. Drizzle 2 tsp of ghee and cover. Let the rice rest for another 10 minutes.
  11. Serve with any vegetarian or non vegetarian dishes.
